Pakistan Olympic Association is delighted to inform that the IOC Olympic Solidarity Technical Course for Coaches of Olympic Wrestling has concluded today (19-Dec-2019).



In last three years, this is the seventh course funded by IOC through POA held at Lahore. United World Wrestling had deputed two of the Experts, Mr. Trevor Hoskins (United Kingdom) and Mr. Carlos Garcia Santisteban (Spain), who imparted latest techniques and skills to empower local coaches to develop better understanding of the Olympic Sports in line with the international standards.

The technical courses are held in accordance with the rules established by the International Federation concerned, with a view to standardize as much as possible the training that coaches receive around the world. In this way, a common language for each sport and discipline is used by everyone, which guarantees a certain level of quality and performance.

The closing ceremony of the event was held today in which sports fraternity, participants of course, UWW Educators and friends from media were present. Mr. Shaukat Javed, Vice President, Pakistan Olympic Association was the Chief Guest of the ceremony who thanked International Olympic Committee for the role it is playing throughout the world for promotion and development of sports. He applauded the efforts of Lt. Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan for ensuring the conduct of such
courses on regular basis. He advised the participants to adopt and apply the techniques that they have learned for the development of Olympic Wrestling in Pakistan. Mr. Muhammad Khalid Mahmood informed the audience that this is the seventh course POA had organized under the auspice of IOC in last three years. This course was organized in collaboration with Pakistan Wrestling Federation and he thanked all the stakeholders for making it successful.

Mr. Muhammad Inam Butt Chairman Athletes Commission of Pakistan Olympic Association applauded the efforts of Pakistan Olympic Association for providing an opportunity to National Wrestling Coaches and Referees for equipping them with latest skills and understanding of Wrestling. Mr. Hamid Ali Khan, National Wrestling Coach and Mr. Tauqeer Butt, National Wrestling Referee, applauded the efforts of Pakistan Olympic Association for arranging this course which was necessary for the development of Wrestling in Pakistan.

The highlight of the course were the UWW Experts who informed the audience about their pleasant experiences during their stay. They were satisfied with the delivery of the course and the objectives they achieved. They were all praise for the local culture and friendly atmosphere and were confident that Pakistan is ready for the international sports activities. The participants thanked both Mentors for their professional, efficient and interactive sessions and expressed gratitude for admiring the peaceful and beautiful Pakistan.

Pakistan Olympic Association is thankful to the IOC, UWW and specially Mr. Trevor and Mr. Carlos for their commitment and contribution for the elevation and promotion of sports in Pakistan.
