Hammas beat Indian to win U-13 Squash title

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan young prodigy Hammas Tarrar of Sindh has shattered favourites Wazirani dream in the Under-13 final in straight sets to become the new champion at the 19th Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship 2012 played at Kish Island.

According to information received here he proved his mettle to outplay his Indian opponents in straight sets.

Abdul Wahab Marwat Secretary of Pakistan Squash federation confided to this scribe during a formal chat here on Saturday.  He said that the past legends terming Hammas Tarrar the future of Pakistan squash and predicted that the guy will help in regaining Pakistan’s past squash glory.

Hammas won the first game 11-7 and second with the same score line in the second. His Indian opponent tried to make comeback but Hammas Tarrar foiled his attempt and won the third set 11-9. He clinched the final by 11-7, 11-7 and 11-9.   In the Under-19 category, defending champion Danish Atlas Khan defended his title successfully and defeated compatriot Ali Bokhari 3-0.

Danish was in sublime form as he never allowed his opponent Ali Bokhari any chance of settling down. Danish won the first game 11-7, he go on to win the second game 11-8. Danish Atlas maintained his supremacy in the second game and clinched the second game by 11-8.

Danish’s real test started in the third game when Ali tried to put up a fight and took the game to 10-10, but Danish used all of his experience and won the third game 12-10, thus taking the title in 3 games.
