The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) would like to remind all stakeholders to submit their recommendations to amend the World Anti-Doping Code (Code) and related International Standards by the October 10, 2012 deadline for the 2nd Consultation Phase of the Code Review Process.
All stakeholders are urged to consider their practical experiences to provide suggestions for any amendments to strengthen the Code and the International Standards, and look at areas that will benefit from any change, additions or omissions.
To help facilitate the simple submission of recommendations, WADA has created the online tool WADAConnect.
Stakeholders are asked to use WADAConnect as it allows submissions to be made with direct reference to the Code Article of interest.
The Code Review Process was launched on November 28, 2011 and the 1st Consultation Phase - during which WADA received 91 official submissions comprising 1,366 individual comments - was closed on March 15, 2012.
Pursuant to the Review Process, WADA then published a ‘clean’ version and a ‘redlined’ version of the revised Code draft on its website, as well as all submissions that had publication approval from their authors.
The ongoing 2nd Consultation Phase started on June 1, 2012 and runs in conjunction with the 1st Consultation Phase of the International Standards, which are designed to bring harmonization to areas of anti-doping.
After a third consultation phase between December 1, 2012 and March 1, 2013, a final draft will be approved by the WADA Foundation Board at the World Conference on Doping in Sport in Johannesburg in November 2013.
The new Code will come into force as of January 1, 2015.
