KARACHI: Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Amir Hamza Gillani has said that the tartan track at the Karachi coaching centre would be replaced soon.
He has directed PSB’s Karachi center director Zulfiqar Abro to send him a fresh report about the condition of the existing track with recommendations of its replacement after consultation with the Sindh Athletic Association (SAA).
He was talking to reporters at the Karachi coaching center after distributing certificates among the participants of PSB athletics coaching course organised by SAA.
He parried a question about the construction of the wall of the coaching center that was broken by heavy rains a few years ago. He said the Karachi center’s local management could give a better response in this connection.
DG PSB said that some projects at the PSB Karachi center which were delayed due to one reason or the other would be completed during this year.
He added that the tracks of the other cities of the country would also be replaced if they have worn out or have completed their years.
Earlier, addressing the certificate distribution ceremony, Gillani said that PSB would organise further athletics coaching courses in Sindh.
The next phase of courses would be held in Sukkur and Larkana in June and July, he added. He assured the participant coaches of athletes and SAA that the Karachi center’s tartan track would be replaced as soon as possible. He asked SAA president Zahid Rizvi to work with Abro on the subject and remain in touch with him for follow-up.
Rizvi said on the occasion that Sindh-based athletes and coaches were deprived of training abroad as people of departments went in their place.
