LAHORE – Army retained the 34th Velo National Boxing Championship title with 75 points here at the Punjab College Hall. Wapda secured the second place with 70 points while PAF earned the third position with 65 points.
The controversy that erupted between the 60kg fight of Kadir Khan of Wapda and Nawaz Dad of Army left the decision of the winner team of the championship pending for quite sometime and later Wapda's Kadir was declared the winner. But on points table, Army was the clear winners with 75 points. In the 69kgs, Aamir Khan of Wapda beat Arshad Hussain of PAF by 12-7.
