KARACHI: The country’s leading pugilists Mohammad Waseem and Aamir Khan blasted their way into the semifinals of the National Boxing Championship at the Punjab College in Lahore on Wednesday.
WAPDA’s Waseem, who is aiming to join professional boxing, crushed Mohammad Asif from Railways 33-7 in his flyweight quarter-final. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan from WAPDA, who was overlooked for the Olympic Qualifiers in Astana recently, showed his class by defeating Zulqarnain Abbas 16-5 in the 69kg to move into the semifinals. Zulqarnain was given the chance in the Olympic Qualifiers in place of Aamir but he lost his first bout.
