KARACHI: Ali Murad recorded an immaculate 6-0, 6-0 win over Talha Zubair in the first round of men’s singles event of IC Trophy Ranking Tennis Championship, which began at Karachi Gymkhana here on Saturday.
Zuhair Raza brushed aside Omer Shahid 6-4, 6-1 to confirm his place in the second round.
Malik Abdul Rehman recovered from a set down to eventually beat Muhammed Manzer, registering a 4-6, 7-6, 6-3 victory. Aqeel Khan eased into the second round after he got a walkover against Saif Noor Sumar.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s Davis Cup hero Aqeel Khan brushed aside seasoned Nomi Qamer in the final to clinch the title of 10th Westbury Open Ranking Tennis Championship at Karachi Club here on Saturday.
Aqeel recently helped Pakistan secure Davis Cup tie against Lebanon with a win in the decisive match. He recorded a convincing 6-3, 6-3 triumph against Nomi in the final of men’s singles event. |
