KARACHI: Favourite Aqeel Khan faced stiff resistance from Heera Ashiq before he confirmed his presence in the final of 9th Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court Tennis Championship at CDGK Sports Complex Tennis Courts on Thursday.
Heera lost the first set 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) but came back strongly in the second set and put stiff resistance against top national player Aqeel Khan and took the game in tie-breaks. However, seasoned Aqeel managed to end the match in minimum two sets. Aqeel recorded a 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) win to secure his expected place in the summit clash of the event.
Aqeel will now face his younger brother Yasir Khan in the final.
Yasir dispatched Nomi Qamar, recording a 7-5, 6-2 triumph.
