KARACHI: Pakistan judoka Shah Hussain Shah has broken into the top 50 of the world rankings, according to the list issued by the International Judo Federation (IJF). Shah was earlier ranked 72 in the IJF rankings and, according to the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF), the judoka has now improved his position to 42nd out of 231 judokas with his participation in international events.
“I want to emulate my father [Shah Hussain Shah] by winning an Olympic medal for Pakistan,” Shah told The Express Tribune from Tokyo. “I train in Tokyo because I grew up here. I’m pleased that my training here is helping Pakistan judo and I intend to continue performing my duties.” The 19-year-old added that his aim was to confirm his place at the 2016 Olympics. |
